GROWING UP

I can not believe Evan is 6 months old already. It seems like yesterday we were bringing him home. He is trying to become mobile. He can roll all over the place. Logan is really cute she can't wait until he can chase her. She sits in front of him and says "come here, come here" and waits for him to come to her. I hope the closeness they share does not fade with age. She is truly a big admirer of her baby brother. His eyes light up when she comes into the room or when he hears her voice. You can see the love that is between the two of them. Being an only child I can never know the bond between brother and sister. But it warms my heart when I feel the connection that they have. It reminds me how lucky I am. And how blessed our family has been.

Evan's great find

Good evening, I have a few minutes of quiet time so here I am. It is hard to believe that Evan is almost 6 months old. Where does the time go? Tonight was bath night for everyone. We love bath night. The girls stay in till they come out looking like prunes. Evan who is still in his baby bathtub still sits on the side of infants because he does not sit up well and is waiting to upgrade to the other side of the tub. He only gets a little water because he wiggles and moves so much he usually ends up sliding under the water and does not particularly like that. Though he does enjoy a good splash or two. Tonight was a night of discovery. A momentous moment for the male gender. It was just like any other bath night. We are washing(myself and the two year old who just has to help) baby Evan and singing the "Wheels on the Bus" and the "Rubber Ducky" song. When out of the corner of my eye I see Evan focusing on something. Very intense! I look around to see what he has spotted? What could it be? Well, let me tell you, he found his little winky (medical term) Penis. A smile went on his face and both hands went to his groin area and with a look of " I got it mom!!" he pulled with both hands with all of his might. I am hoping and assuming that since he is still so little that there isn't much feeling in it because it looked like it would hurt like He!! But he kept on smiling and pulling. You go son!! I wonder if there is a spot for this moment in his baby book? Probably not that is why I wrote it here. Good night to all.

Feeling thankful

I am here at work today eating my lunch and am feeling really thankful for what I have. Yesterday, Harley had a therapy appointment. (she is ADD) While sitting in the office waiting for our turn. I witnessed a pretty sad site. It broke my heart. There was a mother of 6 children 5 small ones with her and then the older one having the appointment. They were all dressed in old hand me downs that had rips and tears in them. Some were like wild animals and would not sit still. A couple with out shoes. One little boy was sick and was sleeping in a chair. I noticed his shoes worn out and a little big but were Dora the explorer. From what I could tell he had a bit older sister that I am sure they came from. I am so glad that John and I can provide a good life for our 4 wonders in life. Just seeing a family like that makes me thank GOD for what he has blessed me in my life. Now on a lighter note the thought that did run through my mind after I teared up was, (if anyone watched the last amazing Race may remember this phrase. I believe from the Africa leg of the race.) They just keep breading!!!

Busy Saturday

Saturday is my day off from the office. Sometimes, I actually get to sleep in. Not so for this Saturday. I was woken up to a serenade from Logan. She sang the mommy song the baby Evan song and the daddy song. And that was enough to fully awake Evan. So, Evan needed a diaper change and Logan was ready for breakfast by 7:30 am. So up we are and heading down the stairs to start our day. Leaving daddy slumbering upstairs. (well deserved)

We start out with a banana> what a healthy way to start your day. Good job Logan for spotting such a healthy choice in the morning. Evan gets some rice cereal the last time we tried it he hated it. He seemed to like it this morning. Good for Evan. Did I mention that I am also a nursing mom working full time and pumping 3 times a day to keep his milk supply up? Well you now know. After his cereal he wants topped off with some milk. Meanwhile, Logan has given up the healthy notion and is asking for candy. Good thing toddlers can not tell time because then she would know better than to ask for candy at 8:00 in the morning and would not look mortified that I would actually say no! But, they can't tell time and she was not happy at all by the response. Surprise!!

I decided that today we were going to be productive and get some housework done for a change. Evan gets put into his Snugli sling front facing mom. Logan screaming me help, me help!! We are starting in the kitchen and down comes Harley who is ready for something to eat. Cereal is her breakfast choice. Great!! Here's a bowl and milk. Now Logan wants some cereal. Here’s your bowl and milk. Back to cleaning. So the morning gets away with us. I have to trek to the pharmacy and since I am out Joe and dad would like something from McDonalds!! Guess what so does Harley and Logan. Good thing I stop and check the bag from McD's because we are missing something. Everyone eats and all is good in the world.

It is now time to leave with Logan we are going to a Mommy and me class. Her first interaction with fellow toddlers. All went pretty well except she is not use to fighting for things she wants with other whiney toddlers. Her older brother and sister are often told "just let her have her way" So this is a new experience. All went pretty well. We played and painted pictures. It's now time to go. We will see everyone next Saturday. On our way home. It is time for Evan to have a meal and in just an hour Harley and I are on our way to the Library to Have a Valentine Day Tea and to make Silhouettes. I think even a story if we are lucky. Harley has a fine time we even look around and bring home some books. guess what it is feeding time for Evan again. Anyone feeling like a cow by now? Oh maybe it's just me. Moo!! Now everyone is ready for lunch yum. The girls go out and play outside the sun is out today.

We get another surprise. The electric went out on us. Oh no the TV is not working. Oh no the computer runs on electric too!!! We sit down and play a game of War with the four of us and Evan on my lap. Everyone wants something out of the fridge of course. Soon the electric comes back on and no one wants to finish the game of cards which more than half the time they were all cheating except mom and the 2 year old.

That is pretty much my day. Oh by the way I cheated for dinner and we had sphegetti'os and corn. I am tired but the kitchen never was finished and we have a pile of laundry that needs done. Everyone is getting ready for bed and to settle down for the night. Guess it will be a little longer for MOM. Maybe that is why we (moms) carry so much power.

My Family

Let me start out with some background info. I am mom to 4 kids and a wonderful husband. We have Joe-14, Harley-09, Logan-2,and Evan-6 months. My husband John just turned 39 this year.I work full time M-F as well as John. Everyone comes to mom with things. As I am sure it is the same in your households.John has a phrase that he has taught the kids " If mama ain't happy then no one is happy" and swears that he lives by this motto. Lucky for me I guess to hold so much power. The power of MOM.
Hello,
Let me introduce myself. I am a 34 yr old mother of 4 very different children. I work full time outside of our home so I am always busy. I might say our lives are a bit hectic and hardly ever dull. I thought it would be nice to start keeping a journal of some of our day to day stuff. Maybe the kids will like to read it sometime when they are older.
